IPMS
(UK) has added yet another attraction to the impressive line up
already confirmed for Scale ModelWorld 2013. We already have
helicopters, cars and science fiction exhibits to whet your appetite
and now we have armour in the shape of a Chieftain MK10 Stillbrew.
The
Chieftain MBT was the mainstay of the British Army from the mid 1960s
until the early 1990s. The Chieftain was the first true Main Battle
Tank and the most powerful tank in the western armies for many years.
It was revolutionary in many ways most famously for the driver’s
reclined driving position and the infamous Leyland L60 Multi-fuel
engine which resulted in the Chieftain gaining a reputation for
unreliability. Despite its reliability issues the Chieftain is
fondly remembered by all who worked on her.
The
Chieftain MK 10 attending Scale ModelWorld is owned by Melvin “the
tank man” Cordwell and is part of an extensive collection of modern
armoured vehicles and tank transporters that Melvin has put together
in just 5 years. Melvin is delighted to be attending the show and
will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the Chieftain and
any of his other vehicles.
